While Your Children, Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews Attend the Youth Retreat, Join Nick Marinides for a Book Discussion on the Desert Fathers
A collaboration of Church ministries has a special evening planned for all parishioners. On November 5th the Orthodox Book Discussion Group will host presenter Nick Marinides, who will discuss The Desert Fathers: Sayings of the Early Christian Monks by Benedicta Ward. Their Sayings (spiritual advice, stories, parables, and reflections on life) extend our understanding of the gospels as God reveals His mysteries through the Church. The book is organized into themes: Charity, Fortitude, Lust, Patience, Prayer, Self-control. Benedicta Ward a theology faculty at Oxford University. The book may be purchased at a discounted price in the church’s Orthodox Bookstore/Giftshop.
