Art of Salvation …33 homilies of Elder Ephraim, founder of 17 Greek Orthodox monastic communities in North America and former abbot of Philotheou Monastery (Mt. Athos).
Each Wednesday during Lent the church community meets after the Liturgy of Presantified gifts for a Lenten pot-luck dinner in the taverna. Following dinner, Father Christos will lead a discussion of a few chapters of The Art of Salvation. The Art of Salvation, is an heirloom quality book that has recently been translated from the original Greek. Here is what the fathers of St. Nektarios Monastery, publishers of the book, say in the introduction: “This book as rightfully been titled The Art of Salvation, for it demonstrates how to cultivate the fruits of repentance….If you are plagued by sinful passions, it will instruct you how to decrease them. If you are confronted by temptations, it will encourage you to deal with them. If you are overcome by indifference, it will infuse you with heavenly zeal. If you are battled by despair, it will show you how to draw hope. If you are assaulted by pride, it will inform you how to develop humility.”
We will be meeting February 25, March 4, March 11, March 18, and March 25. The Liturgy of the Presantified Gifts is scheduled for 6:00 P.M. and the Lenten Potluck and discussion begin at 7:00 P.M. Art of Salvation is available in the church bookstore and library.
