ORTHODOX MOVIE NIGHT
sponsored by The Hellenic Orthodox Church Library
Presenting a "free showing " of the Russian Spiritual Drama OCTPOB. Refreshments. All welcome. OCTPOB ( Pronounced "Ostrov" and meaning "island" in Russian) is a compelling fictional drama of the life and spiritual struggle of a sniveling ship hand who through a dramatic war event, encounters true repentance and reconciliation. His wholesome contrition, faith and struggle endows him as a mystic and enigma on his tiny little island, performing miracles, foreseeing the future and other events while living a self-deprived, repentant life. Taking place during the Russian/Nazi conflict of WWII, OCTPOB begins with a gripping first scene and ends in tearful, dramatic fashion. It is an entertaining, contemplative film of conflict, humor mysticism and pure Orthodoxy that confronts our own spiritual realities in an inspiring and introspective way. ( English subtitles.)
